Case Study

One of our major strengths is the vast array of clients we do business with and the many different business sectors they represent.  In this particular case our client Blu Commercial Cleaning, a commercial cleaning, residential cleaning, mold mitigation, janitorial cleaning company in Chicago, Ill  was looking to develop an in-house solution for better management and collaboration of a remote and dispersed work force.

Blu Commercial Cleaning

As a growing company Blu found itself in need of better managing the day to day operations of a distributed workforce – some of their requirements were:

  • Single pane of glass
  • Centralized collaboration
  • Ease of navigation

Single pane of glass

A single “all-in-one” solution would allow Blu to consolidate the various off-the-shelf solutions pieced together like an un-matching puzzle in effort to maintain some level of day-to-day operations.  The cost of managing 5,6,7 different platforms on a yearly basis was huge – additionally the cost of having to train the staff on each product was unnecessary overhead.  Instead of learning to operate various platforms, Blu wanted a solution that allowed their staff to focus on what they do best – “giving the customer the best experience possible”.

Centralized Collaboration

With over 500 clients, the workforce at Blu is quite dispersed; creating a solution that facilitated the ability to communicate and collaborate was key.  Updates to projects, projects notes, ability to chat with team members, to chat with managers, the ability to show progress based on assigned and completed tasks – all this would allow the staff at Blu to be much more effective.   This also provides management the ability to quickly determine and respond to project needs or to update the client accordingly (a planned feature is to integrate client view, which would give a client the ability to interact with staff and gain visibility of real-time project status).

Ease Of navigation

Key to the development of this web based application was the need to ensure functionality was intuitive and streamlined.  The expectation is that staff would not need to spend excess amount of time learning how to use it, rather the application would be an extension of themselves and aid them in better being able to perform their duties.

Project Management

End-to-end management of all project details was a critical component when designing this application.  The ability for managers to quickly determine project status, the need for technicians to have a clear understanding of their tasks and responsibilities.  Reporting, Invoicing, cost analysis, forecasting all base components of the application.

The modular design of VAST allows for a level of micro service based flexibility that results in the ability to deliver exactly what Blu required.
